FAQs

What do I have to do to book a bike?

If you want to hire a bike for 3 days or more, you can fill in the booking form on our website. Once you have done that, you will receive a standard confirmation e-mail.

Afterwards you will also receive an official confirmation. In that e-mail you will find the price for the bike and everything included. If you want to hire a bike for 1 or 2 days, we ask to come to the shop on the day you want to ride, or the day before to book the bike.

What do I have to bring?

Please bring your passport. We only make a copy of this, after which you get it back. We also ask a 50€ deposit in cash. These 50€ you get back at the end of your rental period, after we have checked the bike for damages.

Last thing you need is a credit card (all cards, apart from American Express) to pay the rental fee.

When does my rental start and end?

Your rental starts at 9am on the date of hire on the booking form and will end at 5pm on the last day of rental. This means we don’t offer 24 hour rentals.

If you hire the bike for one day, that would mean you could pick up the bike at 9am and would have to return it before 5pm on the same day.

Can I pick up my bike the evening before my rental period starts?

We do allow you to pick up the bike the evening before between 17h and 17h30, but only if the bike you have booked has been returned by the previous renter already. In that case, we do ask you not to use the bike on that day as your rental period will start from the next day.

In summer (June to September), it’s not so busy, so this should not be a problem. In winter, it can be very busy over here, so it might be a little more complicated. We ask everyone to return their bike before 5pm, but sometimes somebody shows up late. If this person has the bike you need, you might have to wait until they are back. To be sure, you might want to give us a call to ask if your bike has already been prepared for you.

Do I have to bring my own pedals?

We have Shimano SPD, SPD SL and Look Keo pedals for rent. We charge 1€ per day for the pedals with a maximum of 5€.

What is included with the bike

All bikes comes with a small pump, a spare inner tube, tyre levers, a multitool set and two water bottle cages on most bikes.

Do I have to bring my own helmet?

We have helmets for rent for a one-time fee of 5€.

Do I have to bring energy gels and/or bars?

We have energy gels and bars for sale. The brands we have are: Powerbar, ZipVit, 226ers and Namedsport. We have products for before, during and after cycling. Some of our products are vegan-friendly or gluten free

Should I bring shoes and/or clothes?

Yes, unless you want to buy new shoes and/or clothes. The shoe brands we have for sale are: Shimano, Mavic, Pearl Izumi and Sidi. The clothing brands we have are: Shimano, Castelli, Pearl Izumi and Mavic. On top of that we have a Bike Point clothing range. For accessories, you will also find brands like Roeckl, Fox, Alpinestars and Deuter.

Can I send my bike measurements?

Yes, you can. As you will see in our bike rental section on this website, we have a measurement guide which shows you how to take the measurements we need (A, B and C). These measurements you can fill in on the booking form. A is the saddle height, measured from the middle of your bottom bracket to the top of your saddle following the line of your seat post. B is the distance between the middle of your handlebar and the tip of your saddle. C is the handlebar height, measured from the floor to the top of your handlebar.

Can you deliver the bike to our hotel?

We do offer a delivery service for the southern part of the island. The cost for this starts at 10€, depending on where you are staying exactly. If you are unsure if your hotel is in our delivery area, you can either send us an email on info@medanobike.com or fill in the booking form on our website and choose the delivery option. We will then let you know whether or not we can deliver the bike to your hotel.

What will the weather be like at the top?

This is difficult for us to say as it can be totally different from one day to the next. In winter, you will definitely need a jacket to come down. You might even need arm and leg warmers, as the temperature can drop down to 5⁰ Celcius. In summer, a wind breaker should already be enough. Sometimes you don’t even need that. On the really warm days, you might want to take off early as it can get up to 40⁰ Celcius on some parts of the climb. When you are in the shop, we can give you some advice on what to wear and where to stop to refill.
