Our story · Tenerife · Since 2006

Built on the island.
Made for riders.

Bike Point Tenerife is a local network of bike rental centres, specialist shops and workshops. What began in El Médano grew from a shared life in sport into an island-wide team helping visitors and local riders enjoy Tenerife by bike.

Where it began

A difficult ending became a new beginning.

Our story starts in El Médano in 2000. Christophe, Harald and Bjørn worked together at Fun Factory El Cabezo, a windsurf centre at the former Calimera Atlantic Playa hotel, now known as Hotel Arenas del Mar. Bikes were already part of the activity, alongside the windsurf operation.

When the hotel was sold in 2006, the centre had to close. The team was left with a large collection of windsurf equipment and no comparable beachfront premises. They rented an affordable shop in the village to sell the remaining stock. From that uncertain moment—and a shared passion for cycling—Bike Point El Médano took shape. Bike Point was established in 2007.

The idea was straightforward: useful equipment, knowledgeable service and a friendly welcome from people who understood sport and the island. Those principles still guide the business today.

TODAY

Six locations work as one island-wide team, joining Bike Point in the south and west with Triciclos in the north.

Bike Point today

One island. One team. Different ways to ride.

Today we support cycling across Tenerife through bike hire, guided tours, free GPS routes, retail shops and professional workshops. Our southern and western locations focus strongly on visitors and rental; Santa Cruz and Santa Úrsula bring the established Triciclos retail and workshop experience to the wider Bike Point network.

Why local experience matters

We ride here. We work on bikes here.

Tenerife asks a lot of a bicycle: long climbs, steep gradients, heat, wind and rapid changes in altitude. Maintaining a large rental fleet gives our technicians and shop teams direct experience of how bikes perform in these conditions. It also means the advice we give is grounded in everyday work on the island.
