The Vuelta al Teide offers an all-encompassing experience designed for expert and well-trained cyclists. Spanning 140 kilometers with a cumulative ascent of over 3,500 meters, this ride takes you through both slopes of Mount Teide. We kick off our journey in Santiago del Teide, launching into a challenging uphill climb right from the start, leading us to Chio.
From there, the road gently ascends, guiding us through the forested crown and the volcanic expanse of Teide National Park. Cycling through this breathtaking lunar landscape, we’ll pass in proximity to the peak of Mount Teide (3,715 meters).
Our route includes a visit to the Astronomic Observatory of Izaña, which stands at an impressive 2,300 meters above sea level, marking the highest point of our ride. We then prepare for a thrilling and rapid descent on the northern side of Teide, eventually leading us to the northern coast of Tenerife, close to Puerto de La Cruz and La Orotava. As we pedal through the lush and vibrant natural surroundings, we’ll traverse local and traditional villages on our way to the renowned Icod de Los Vinos, where a final recovery break awaits. After this
respite, we’ll face the last 20 kilometers of the El Tanque road, culminating in our return to Santiago del Teide.
