Professional level performance<\/strong>
\nPRO in the name means it is a product developed in direct collaboration with the world’s best racers and represents the pinnacle of innovation: designed and built for competition-winning performance. The SES 4.5 PRO is the second product in the road line to receive this designation, following the SES Aero PRO one-piece handlebar.<\/p>\n

Innerdrive becomes featherweight
\n<\/strong>The core of the 4.5 PRO wheel is the PRO hub, which incorporates ENVE’s INNERDRIVE technology into an ultra-lightweight straight-drive hub. Weighing only 281 grams (194 grams at the rear and 87 grams at the front), the INNERDRIVE PRO hub competes with the lightest on the market without sacrificing the rigidity required by the best in the world.<\/p>\n

When speed is the most important thing
\n<\/strong>World Tour road racing requires an exceptional balance between aerodynamics, weight optimization and regulatory compliance. The SES 4.5 PRO’s focus on the needs of professional riders requires compliance with the governing body’s equipment standards. Depending on course requirements, racers typically choose 28mm tires when road surface conditions are soft and weight savings are a priority. With the 4.5 currently in the line-up where riders most often pair it with 30mm tyres, ENVE took the opportunity to create a purpose-built aero and climbing wheelset, not intended to be a do-it-all wheel, but rather a refined tool for climbing at World Tour speeds.<\/p>\n

Aerodynamic performance
\n<\/strong>Real-World\u2122 Fast means pursuing maximum speed, but not at the cost of important performance attributes such as weight, durability and stability. The SES 4.5 PRO meets these requirements while retaining most of the SES 4.5’s patented shape and, therefore, its best-in-class aerodynamics and driving characteristics. Simply put, after almost 10 years, the shape of the SES 4.5 continues to punch above its weight. This is how ENVE became UAE Team Emirates’ wheel partner. Unbeknownst to ENVE, the UAE had purchased the market-leading wheels and independently tested them in the wind tunnel and on the road. The rest is history.<\/p>\n

ceramic bearings<\/strong>
\nThe strength of bearings depends on numerous factors, such as bearing seals, ball bearings, races and housing. Other factors such as manufacturing consistency, tolerances, fat content and viscosity also play a role. To control each of these variables, we have worked with a leading bearing supplier to create what we believe is the best ceramic wheel bearing available. ENVE’s new PRO Ceramic Bearings feature hardened, non-rusting stainless steel races, grade 5 ceramic balls, non-contact seals on the inner face of the bearing to reduce friction, and a semi-contact seal on the outer face to keep debris out. The ENVE Pro Ceramic Bearing solution is quick in hand and promises long-term reliability.<\/p>\n

Innerdrive pro tech<\/strong>
\nUsing the same INNERDRIVE technology as the Premium Straight-Pull hubs that have competed in the World Tour for a second season, the PRO hub set receives the same upgrade kit developed for professional teams. This includes a light action ratchet spring to reduce resistance and a 40 tooth ratchet. Like the Premium Straight-Pull hubs, the PRO hub uses the same spoke alignment feature to reduce spoke twist.<\/p>\n
